Our History

Family owned and operated, the business was started by Doug and Mary Dillard in 1968. D&M, or “Dad & Mom” as it has been sometimes affectionately called, was located in Potomac, Maryland, later in Washington, DC, and now in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

D&M was started as a gutter cleaning and service business to earn a little extra money to help the family make ends meat. As the business grew it became a part-time business evolving later into a full time roofing, gutters, and skylights repair and replacement company serving the Washington Metropolitan area.

The brothers Troy and Todd grew up working summers and weekends in the family business and after acquiring ownership in 1987, moved the business in 1991 out to its current Gaithersburg location. The company began to offer a complete line of exterior home improvements and remodeling services including windows, doors, siding, soffit, trim, shutters, decks, porches, storm windows/doors, painting and related interior remodeling. These products have been a very exciting addition to the business.

D&M has been recognized by The Washington Consumer Checkbook Magazine, Washingtonian Magazine, and has earned numerous awards for outstanding achievement for quality and craftsmanship from related product vendors. Top national well-know name brand manufacturers have recognized D&M as one of the elite contractors to represent and install their products. They continually credential the company with honors of distinct qualifications and professionalism. D&M also just recently, after an intense scrutinized selection process, will be a featured contractor on HGTV’s exterior remodeling program “Curb Appeal”. This is a true culmination of 40 plus years of hard work and determination to provide the very best in quality products, service and dependability. Our time honored tradition shall continue with a simple recipe for success; honesty, integrity, trust, and a complete commitment to customer satisfaction.
